The term “Industry 4.0” has been discussed so often in recent times. But what is the meaning of this term and how will it impact the future of manufacturing. Industry 4.0 is a project of the future initiated by the German industry. In Europe, research and industry are dealing with Cyber-Physical Systems, in America with the Industrial Internet, and in Asia, there are similar initiatives, all aiming at the intelligent factory.
The presentation will cover the Industry 4.0 concept, provide real life examples of adopting Industry 4.0 initiatives within the manufacturing, agriculture and dairy Industries. Then discuss the steps needed to transition towards Industry 4.0 by developing a digital strategy that incorporates real time traceability, improved safety and predictive maintenance (through Artificial Intelligence).

Jason Mair is the Product Market Manager responsible for the Product Management and Marketing function across Australia and New Zealand. Having commenced his working life within the manufacturing sector Jason has gained over 25years experience across a number of disciplines from Electrical, Engineering, Sales, Product Management and Marketing. He also recognizes the challenges the modern manufacturing facilities face in a global market space having spent over 10 years in the manufacturing sector where he focused on improving productivity and safety through the introduction of advanced technical automation. He is a current member of the SF041 Safety committee developing the AS/NZ 4024 safety series of standards for the Australian and New Zealand markets. And he also supports industry through providing machine guard safety training and is an active member of the National Safety Council of Australia.
